Competition law shall apply to documents and acts of economic operators or associations of economic operators (natural or legal persons, respectively of Romanian or foreign nationality) or of central or local public administration bodies likely to have the effect of restricting, preventing or distorting competition.
Competition law prohibits: anti-competitive practices; anti-competitive agreements; abuse of a dominant position; mergers creating or consolidating a dominant position to name a few.
The bill also forbids any action of central or local government bodies which has as their focus or may have the effect of restricting, preventing or distorting competition, especially taking decisions limiting trade freedom or the economic operators’ autonomy and establishing discriminatory conditions for their activity.
